‘In an Australian-first, the Local Government Association of South Australia has launched a ‘Smart Cities’ framework project aimed at ensuring councils are always using cutting-edge technology in planning.’
Project Overview
Opensensing recently worked with the federally-funded Local Government Association Smart Cities Project to install 100 smart sensors and a network of internet connected The Things Network gateways to ensure that councils are able to take advantage of innovative technologies to inform decision making processes.
The smart sensors are currently being used to gather real-time data on the usage of public spaces, facilities, carparks and roads, to monitor water levels in swimming pools and to inform rubbish collection practices. However, the future possibilities are endless.
